ARAD DOMON

Tarmon Gai'don left Arad Domon in worse shambles than it had been before the Great War. Graendal's machinations had left the nation in total structural chaos without her hand to guide things. They were however spared only by that very fact. Because they were in shambles to begin with, their nation was spared much of the carnage of the Last Battle.

Arad Domon recovered somewhat to help it face hard times. When Tarabon began making presumptuous moves on the southern borders of the nation, all factions united together in a very cohesive alliance under one of the former King Alsalam's children. For many years they fought a defensive war with Tarabon. Always they were giving ground to the much better equipped southerners. Always the other nations of the land would hesitate to lend aide to Arad Domon. The world was not yet ready for another war, this time with Seanchan. So they let Arad Domon diminish until it was fully half of what it formerly was during the days of the Final Battle. It wasn't until Seanchan began attempting, whether by design or by accident, to raid Saldaean coastal ports that aide for Arad Domon came. Saldaea, a fierce culture, declared war on Seanchan and it's allies. As a result, it made them allies of any who opposed the Seanchan. Many of the other nations still feared a direct confrontation with Seanchan, but voiced no opposition to the Saldaean call. Many of those nations began to send aide in whatever fashion they could secretly muster. A base was set up by the Domoni at a place called Dystara to house the inflow of military units near the northern border of the Almoth Plain.

The Tarabon advance came to a stand still. The alliance of Saldaea and Arad Domon has not yet put its full might into the conflict. They are gathering a force from all the nations that would contribute together to retake the lands of the Seanchan. The effect on the Domoni has been very tangible. They have recently become better equipped, and have converted much of their traditionally foot soldier army into a highly mobile mounted cavalry after the style of the Saldaeans.

Arad Domon is still ruled by that same line of Kings from House Alsalam, perhaps to become one of the longer successive dynasties among the present day nations. The present ruler is Vernius Alsalam. His seat is in the capital city of Bandar Eban, but he is often to be found in Dystara planning the demise of the Seanchan and Taraboners. The national banner is still the green and white striped flag with a gray hand holding a gray sword drawn vertical. When the ruler is present it has a golden fringe added.

Arad Domon has not relinquished its massive trading economy. Domoni are still considered among the best in trade negotiators around. They deal primarily with goods brought in from other nations. The resources for the nation are extremely limited now that the mountains of mist have been blocked from them, but trade routes east and north are still maintained. Even occasional ocean trade is possible to the people with the right clearances from the Seanchan. And the Atha'an Miere still call on Domani ports, bringing in vital goods. The Domani still prefer not to get involved in sea faring, rather allow others to do the traveling by sea.

The army is very simplistic in nature. General Abine Itenda leads a staff of four more Under-Generals, and an army of basically 6 corps. This amounting to very nearly 30,000 troops, though that number fluctuates greatly, and varies just as greatly in skill levels. Many of these are simply local militias, and new recruits comprise a majority of the army. The newly created light cavalry is perhaps 10,000 strong, or 2 corps. These have not been highly utilized yet, as Arad Domon is biding their time hoping to keep their Ace in the Hole for a punitive attempt to retake their entire nation.
